Building AI Literacy for Educators: Perspectives on What the DOL Framework Means for Higher Education and Teacher Preparation

In recognition of National AI Literacy Day, the Pathways Alliance is hosting a conversation about the U.S. Department of Labor’s AI Literacy Framework and its implications for the educator workforce.

As AI tools become more common in classrooms, educators need practical guidance on how to use them to support teaching and learning. This conversation will explore how AI can help educators with tasks such as lesson planning, differentiating instruction, and reducing administrative work, while keeping teaching and mentorship at the center of the classroom.

The webinar will also discuss what this shift means for teacher preparation programs, districts, and states as they begin preparing educators to use these tools responsibly. Panelists will share perspectives on how AI literacy can be introduced early in teacher preparation and apprenticeship pathways so educators are ready to use these tools thoughtfully in their practice.
